The scanner analyzes your photo to find the four corners of the document, then applies a perspective transform to flatten and straighten the page — removing the angle and background from a handheld photo. It finishes with an enhancement pass that sharpens text and evens out lighting, giving you a result that looks like it came from a real scanner. All of this happens on your device; the image is never uploaded.

What if the document edges aren't detected?
If the scanner can't confidently find the page corners (for example on a low-contrast background), it enhances the full image instead of cropping, so you always get a usable result. For best detection, place the document on a contrasting surface with all four corners visible.
