How to use Loan / EMI Calculator
- 1Enter the loan amount (principal).
- 2Enter the annual interest rate and loan tenure in years.
- 3See your monthly payment, total interest, and year-by-year amortization schedule.
The EMI formula
EMI = P × r × (1+r)ⁿ ÷ ((1+r)ⁿ − 1), where P is principal, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of months — the standard formula behind every fixed-rate amortizing loan, from mortgages to car loans to small-business financing.
Why early payments are mostly interest
In the early years of a loan, more of each payment goes toward interest and less toward principal — the amortization schedule makes this visible, since the interest portion shrinks (and principal portion grows) as the remaining balance drops.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this include fees, insurance, or taxes?
No — this calculates the pure principal-and-interest payment from the standard amortization formula. Loan-specific fees, insurance, or escrow amounts aren't included and vary by lender.
What does the amortization schedule show?
A year-by-year breakdown of how much of your payments went to principal vs interest, and your remaining loan balance at the end of each year.
Is my financial data uploaded anywhere?
