XML Validator
Find out whether your XML is well-formed and where it breaks. Paste XML to check matching tags, a single root element, quoted attributes and escaped characters with your browser's XML parser — then view it neatly indented.
Paste XML and it's parsed instantly. Errors are reported with the line and column and a pointer to the problem; valid XML shows the root element, element count and a formatted version preserving attributes, namespaces, CDATA sections and comments.

Well-formed XML rules
Every opening tag needs a matching closing tag (or self-closing />), tags must nest properly, there must be exactly one root element, attribute values must be quoted, and & and < must be escaped as & and < outside CDATA.
Well-formed isn't the same as valid against a schema: XSD or DTD validation checks the structure and data types too, which this tool doesn't do.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it validate against an XSD?
Not currently — it checks well-formedness only.
Is my code or data uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste is sent to a server or stored.
