Base64 Decoder
Decode Base64 back to its original form. Paste a Base64 string or data: URI and get readable UTF-8 text — or, if it's binary, an automatic file-type detection with an image preview and a download button for PNGs, JPEGs, PDFs, ZIPs and more.
Paste the Base64 (whitespace and line breaks are ignored; data: URI prefixes are handled). Text is decoded as UTF-8 instantly. Binary data is identified from its file signature, images are previewed, and any file can be downloaded with the right extension. Tick URL-safe for Base64url input.

How to use Base64 Decoder
- 1Paste the Base64 string or data URI.
- 2Tick URL-safe if it uses - and _.
- 3Read the decoded text, or preview the image.
- 4Download binary results as a file.
Decoding binary data
Base64 often carries files — email attachments, images in JSON APIs, PDFs in webhooks, certificates. The decoder checks the first bytes (the file signature) to recognise PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, PDF, ZIP, gzip and SVG so you can save them correctly.
If you see “invalid characters”, the string may be URL-encoded (%2B, %2F) — decode it with the URL Decoder first.
Encoding is not encryption
Encoding changes how data is written so it can travel safely through URLs, HTML or text-only systems. It uses no key, so anyone can decode it instantly. Never use Base64, URL or HTML encoding to hide passwords or secrets — use encryption, or a password hash like bcrypt.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert Base64 to an image?
Paste the Base64 (with or without the data:image prefix). The image is previewed and you can download it with the correct extension.
What if the decoded text looks garbled?
The data is probably binary (a file) or in a non-UTF-8 encoding. Download it as a file and open it with the right app.
Is my code or data uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste is sent to a server or stored.
