UUID Generator
Generate unique IDs in the format you need: random UUID v4 (GUID), time-ordered UUID v7 for database keys, ULID, CUID2 and NanoID. Create up to 1,000 at once, copy them as a list, and paste any UUID to see its version, variant and embedded timestamp.
Choose the ID type, how many you need, and formatting options (uppercase, no hyphens), then copy the list. UUID v4 is 122 random bits; UUID v7 starts with a millisecond timestamp so IDs sort by creation time, which keeps database indexes efficient. All IDs are generated with the Web Crypto API in your browser.
Random UUID (122 random bits). The default choice for unique IDs.

How to use UUID Generator
- 1Choose UUID v4, UUID v7, ULID, CUID2 or NanoID.
- 2Set how many and the formatting.
- 3Copy one or all.
- 4Paste a UUID below to validate and decode it.
v4 or v7?
UUID v4 is fully random — the default for most uses. UUID v7 (RFC 9562, 2024) puts a Unix millisecond timestamp in the first 48 bits, so new IDs are always larger than old ones. That makes it a much better primary key for B-tree indexes in PostgreSQL and MySQL, avoiding the page splits random v4 keys cause.
v7 reveals when the ID was created, so use v4 or CUID2 where that's sensitive.
ULID, CUID2 and NanoID
ULID is a 26-character, time-sortable ID in Crockford Base32. CUID2 is a non-sequential, collision-resistant ID that doesn't leak time — good for public URLs. NanoID is a short 21-character URL-safe random ID with about 126 bits of entropy. For secrets rather than identifiers, use the Secure Token Generator.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can two UUIDs collide?
In practice, no. With 122 random bits you'd need to generate about a billion v4 UUIDs per second for 86 years to reach a 50% chance of one collision.
Is a GUID the same as a UUID?
Yes — GUID is Microsoft's name for a UUID. Windows GUIDs are usually shown in uppercase and sometimes in braces.
Are UUIDs secure tokens?
UUID v4 is unpredictable enough for many uses, but security tokens should come from a dedicated generator with 128–256 bits of randomness.
Is my data sent to your server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API and JavaScript. Nothing you type or generate is uploaded, logged or stored.
