Browser Fingerprint Test

Websites can recognise you without cookies by combining dozens of small details about your browser and device. This test shows the same signals trackers collect — user agent, screen, timezone, languages, canvas and WebGL rendering, installed fonts and more — estimates how identifying they are, and explains how to reduce fingerprinting.

The page reads the attributes available to any website's JavaScript, computes a fingerprint ID from them, and estimates the identifying information in bits using figures from published fingerprinting studies (EFF, AmIUnique). Around 33 bits is enough to single out one browser among everyone online. Everything is computed locally and nothing is sent.

How to use Browser Fingerprint Test

  1. 1Open the page — the test runs automatically.
  2. 2Check your fingerprint ID and uniqueness estimate.
  3. 3Review which attributes reveal the most.
  4. 4Try a privacy-focused browser or setting and compare.

How fingerprinting works

Individually, your screen size or timezone says little. Combined — plus how your GPU draws a hidden canvas, which fonts you have and your exact browser version — they often form a unique combination that stays stable across sites and survives clearing cookies and private browsing.

The bit values are approximate: real uniqueness depends on how common your exact setup is, which only a large dataset can measure.

Reducing your fingerprint

Tor Browser makes everyone look the same. Brave randomises fingerprinting surfaces, and Firefox blocks known fingerprinters (and resistFingerprinting goes further). Using a common browser and screen size, fewer extensions and default fonts helps. Check your network privacy with What Is My IP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is fingerprinting legal?

Under the GDPR and ePrivacy rules, fingerprinting for tracking generally requires consent, like cookies. Enforcement varies, and many trackers use it anyway.

Does the fingerprint ID change?

It changes when your browser version, fonts, screen or other attributes change — trackers use fuzzier matching to follow you across small changes.

Is my data sent to your server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API and JavaScript. Nothing you type or generate is uploaded, logged or stored.
