On-Page SEO Checker
Check how well a page is optimized for a specific keyword. Enter the URL and the keyword it should rank for, and see exactly where the keyword appears — title, H1, opening paragraph, meta description, subheadings, URL slug and image alt text — plus keyword density and the page's other on-page issues.
Enter a page URL (or paste HTML) and the keyword you want it to rank for. The checker finds the keyword in the places that matter most — title tag, H1, first 100 words, meta description, H2/H3 subheadings, URL slug and image alt text — measures keyword density, and combines that with a technical audit into one on-page score.

How to use On-Page SEO Checker
- 1Enter the page URL, or paste its HTML.
- 2Enter the keyword the page should rank for.
- 3Check each placement — red items are the most important to fix.
- 4Try other keywords instantly: results update as you type, without re-fetching the page.
Where your keyword should appear
Search engines understand a page's topic from its most prominent text. The title tag and H1 carry the most weight, and mentioning the topic in the opening paragraph confirms it early. A descriptive URL slug, subheadings that cover related sub-topics and accurate image alt text reinforce it.
Placement isn't about repeating the exact phrase everywhere. Google understands synonyms and variations, and matches pages that genuinely answer the question — use the keyword where it reads naturally and cover the topic thoroughly.
How to read keyword density
Keyword density isn't a Google ranking factor, and there's no magic percentage. It's a sanity check: 0% means the page may not really be about the keyword, while very high density suggests keyword stuffing, which Google's spam policies call out. Most well-ranking pages fall in a natural range of roughly 0.5–2.5%. Dig deeper with the Keyword Density Checker.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between this and the SEO Checker?
The SEO Checker audits a page's general health. The On-Page SEO Checker focuses on one keyword — whether the page is clearly optimized for the search you want to win — and adds the technical score for context.
Does the URL need to contain the keyword?
It helps users and search engines understand the page, but it's a light signal. Don't change the URL of an established page just to add a keyword unless you set up a 301 redirect.
Why is my keyword ‘found’ when the exact phrase isn't there?
Matching allows simple variations such as plurals (“tool” matches “tools”), because that's closer to how search engines read text.
What happens to the URLs I analyze?
Your browser can't read other websites directly, so our server fetches the public page once, returns the HTML to your browser, and the analysis runs on your device. We don't store the page, the results or a history of the URLs you check. Private and internal addresses are blocked. For pages behind a login, use the Paste HTML option.
