What an SEO score does — and doesn't — tell you

An SEO score summarizes how well a page follows on-page best practice: whether it can be indexed, has a strong title and description, clear headings, enough content, described images, good links, social tags, structured data and a healthy server response. It's a fast way to spot what's missing and to track improvement.

It is not a prediction of rankings. Google doesn't use any third-party SEO score. A page can score 95 and rank poorly because of weaker backlinks or content that doesn't satisfy the search — which is why comparing with the page that actually ranks is more useful than chasing 100.

Using the competitor comparison

Search your keyword, pick a page that outranks you, and compare. If it wins on content depth or structured data, that's a hint about what the search rewards. If you already score higher on-page, the gap is likely off-page — links, brand and authority — or how well the content answers the query. Run a detailed audit with the SEO Checker.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good SEO score?

80+ (grade A or B) means the fundamentals are in place. Under 65 usually means important basics are missing, such as the title, description, H1 or indexability.

Why is my score capped at 40?

The page returns a non-200 status or has a noindex directive. A page that can't be indexed can't rank, so fix that first.

Is my SEO score the same as Domain Authority?

No. This scores one page's on-page setup. Domain Authority and similar metrics are third-party estimates of a whole site's backlink strength.

What happens to the URLs I analyze?

Your browser can't read other websites directly, so our server fetches the public page once, returns the HTML to your browser, and the analysis runs on your device. We don't store the page, the results or a history of the URLs you check. Private and internal addresses are blocked. For pages behind a login, use the Paste HTML option.
