SHA-3 Hash Generator
Generate SHA-3 hashes in every standard size, plus Keccak-256 as used by Ethereum. Hash text or files locally and switch variants instantly.
Type or paste text to get its SHA-3 hash instantly, or drop a file of any size to hash it in chunks on your device. Choose hex or Base64 output, and paste an expected checksum to verify a match. Includes SHA3-224/256/384/512 and Keccak-256 (Ethereum).

About SHA-3
SHA-3 (FIPS 202, 2015) is built on the Keccak sponge construction, a completely different design from SHA-2, so a break in one wouldn't affect the other. It comes in 224, 256, 384 and 512-bit variants.
Keccak-256 is the pre-standard version used by Ethereum for addresses and function selectors. It differs from SHA3-256 only in padding, but the outputs are completely different — pick the right one.
Hashing isn't encryption
A hash function turns any input into a fixed-size fingerprint. The same input always gives the same hash, the smallest change gives a completely different one, and there's no key to reverse it — which is why “hash decrypters” only look up precomputed hashes of common strings.
Hash text for checksums, deduplication and signatures; store passwords with a slow, salted algorithm like bcrypt instead. Verify downloads with the File Hash Checker.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between SHA3-256 and Keccak-256?
Keccak-256 uses the original Keccak padding; NIST changed the padding when standardising SHA3-256. Ethereum uses Keccak-256, so its hashes won't match SHA3-256.
Can a hash be decrypted?
No. Hashes are one-way. Sites that “decrypt” hashes just search tables of hashes of common words and leaked passwords, which is why short or common inputs can be found and long random ones can't.
Is my data sent to your server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API and JavaScript. Nothing you type or generate is uploaded, logged or stored.
