Tone vs undertone
Skin tone is how light or deep your complexion is; undertone is the subtle warm (golden/peach), cool (pink/blue) or neutral cast beneath it. Undertone is what really drives which clothing colours and metals (gold vs silver) flatter you — so the tool detects both.
Getting an accurate reading
Lighting matters a lot for colour: use even, natural daylight, avoid heavy filters or coloured lighting, and make sure your face isn't in shadow. The tool flags photos where lighting may have skewed the result.

What is the Fitzpatrick type?
A dermatology scale (I–VI) describing how skin responds to sun, from very fair (I) to deeply pigmented (VI). It's widely used for skincare and sun-protection guidance.
Why does lighting matter so much?
Skin colour in a photo shifts with lighting — warm indoor light or coloured bulbs can fake an undertone. Even natural daylight gives the most accurate reading.
How do I know if my undertone is warm, cool or neutral?
Classic at-home checks: veins that look green suggest warm, blue or purple suggests cool, and a mix suggests neutral; gold jewellery flattering you suggests warm, silver suggests cool. This test reads the hue of your skin from the photo to make the same call more consistently.
What's the difference between skin tone and undertone?
Skin tone is how light or deep your skin is and can change with a tan. Undertone is the subtle warm, cool or neutral cast underneath, which stays the same — and it's the undertone that decides which colours and metals flatter you.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
