Broken Link Checker

Paste a page URL and check every link on it — internal and external — for 404s, server errors, dead domains and redirects. Each result shows the status code, the anchor text and the final URL, so you know exactly what to fix.

Enter a page URL. The checker reads every link on the page (up to 300), requests each one with a lightweight HEAD request (falling back to GET), follows redirects, and reports broken links, redirects and links it couldn't verify because the site refuses automated checks — with CSV export.

Checks every link on the page (up to 300) with a lightweight request, following redirects. Up to 500 link checks per 10 minutes.

How to use Broken Link Checker

  1. 1Enter the URL of the page you want to check.
  2. 2Click Check links and watch results arrive in batches.
  3. 3Filter to Broken or Redirects, and to internal or external links.
  4. 4Fix or remove broken links, update redirected links to their final URL, and export the list as CSV.

Why broken links matter

Broken links send visitors to dead ends and waste crawl effort on pages that don't exist. A few broken external links won't sink rankings, but broken internal links cut the paths that pass authority between your own pages and can leave important pages orphaned.

Redirected links still work, but each hop adds latency and dilutes clarity. Update internal links to point straight at the final URL.

Reading the results

Broken means the link returned 4xx/5xx or failed entirely (dead domain, SSL error, timeout). “Couldn't verify” means the site answered 401, 403, 429 or 999 — typical of LinkedIn and bot-protected sites that block checkers but work in a browser — so open those manually rather than deleting them.

To check a whole site's internal pages at once, run the Website SEO Audit, which crawls your site and lists every internal page that errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many links can it check?

Up to 300 links per page, and up to 500 link checks per visitor every 10 minutes, so it stays fast for everyone.

Why is a working link shown as “Couldn't verify”?

Some sites (LinkedIn, Cloudflare-protected pages, some shops) reject automated requests with 403, 429 or 999 even though the page works for people. We label those separately so you don't delete good links.

Does it check images and scripts?

It checks hyperlinks (<a href>). Broken images show up in the page's alt-text and audit tools, and in your browser's developer console.

What happens to the URLs I analyze?

Your browser can't read other websites directly, so our server fetches the public page once, returns the HTML to your browser, and the analysis runs on your device. We don't store the page, the results or a history of the URLs you check. Private and internal addresses are blocked. For pages behind a login, use the Paste HTML option.
