PDF Metadata Viewer
Check what a PDF says about where it came from. Drop a PDF to see its document properties — title, author, subject, keywords, the app that created it, producer, creation and modification dates, custom fields — plus the embedded XMP metadata, read entirely in your browser.
Drop a PDF and it's parsed locally with pdf-lib. You'll see the document information dictionary, the XMP metadata stream (which often repeats the author and adds document IDs and edit history), the page count, PDF version and whether it's encrypted.

What PDF metadata can reveal
Author names (often your computer's user name), your organisation, the software and version used, when a document was created and last edited, and document IDs that link different versions together. Lawyers, journalists and companies have been embarrassed by metadata in PDFs they published.
XMP metadata can survive even when the basic properties are cleared, so check both.
Cleaning PDFs
Use the PDF Metadata Remover to strip properties, XMP and IDs. Remember that visible content — text, comments, form fields, headers — isn't metadata and must be reviewed separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It's read in your browser and never leaves your device.
Can it read encrypted PDFs?
It shows metadata where it's readable; heavily encrypted PDFs may need the password removed first.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It's completely free with no sign-up and no daily credits.
